Mexico. During a whole month, starting the June 14, we will be able to participate in one of the sporting events with the highest attendance of spectators, the Soccer World Cup, based in Russia. From its inauguration, an element that will be present is the traffic pressure of telecommunications signals that we will exert over all available networks.
This will be the highest, except when natural phenomena occur such as earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, among others. The World Cup is one of the events that captures all the attention and international traffic on mobile devices, internet, satellites, televisions and social networks.
While in the past practically television was the only way to enjoy the games of the tournament, now we have a greater diversity of devices and platforms that use the network infrastructure to disseminate these sports content and that open the possibility of interaction during the occurrence of the game.
In this sense, it highlights the importance that mobile devices have had and will have as means of access to live broadcasts and World Cup statistics. They even serve second and third screens where it is possible to enjoy additional content, cameras from different angles, among other special features available in each game.
It should be remembered that, in its previous edition, Brazil 2014, little more than 3,200 millions of people around the world enjoyed the coverage of the games from their televisions, according to figures from FIFA, while 280 millions did so from a mobile device , number that is estimated to double for this year.
In this World Cup edition, the number of active smartphones in the hands of Mexicans will amount to 103.1 million, a growth of 130% compared to the previous world. Among these, just over 8 of each 10 have access to Mobile Broadband services, so they will have content and information about the meetings at all times and in all places.
Additionally, it highlights the offer and accessibility of mobile applications with specialized sports content, such that 5.5 millions of people are users of these in the country.
Another important element in this globalist interaction will be social networks, platforms in which users are informed and share their impressions and views of the parties. During this world-wide one they will receive an importance never before seen, when accounting 76 millions of potential users, an increase of 50% in relation to the 51 million registered 4 years back.
Thus, this year's World Cup will be an event that will undoubtedly attract the attention of a large majority of viewers and users of mobile devices around the world and especially in Mexico. This phenomenon of masses, is consolidated as a detonator of the consumption of telecommunications services. It is also an important catalyst in the adoption of access devices to the transmissions of this sporting event, with its consequent positive effect both in the generation and transmission of content and other partners, advertising revenues and use of platforms.
